Why didI quit posting about cycling?

Well...see the above post.

I haven't raced in 2007. I got burned out from five years of racing more weekends than not. The amount of time I was putting in wasn't rewarding me very well in proportion to what I was getting out of it. It got to be too much of a grind for me and wasn't fun anymore.

The racing at cat 3 was too predictable and 'easy'. I don't want to spend the amount of time it takes to race as a cat 2. I know this leaves masters open to me but at 37 why should I want to race 30 year olds? Lots of those guys are still single or have no kids, and they are still in the (waning) flower of their youth. The failure of the 35+ category change rule was a big nail in the coffin for me. Also, all the old injuries I've had really start to nag at me if I train a lot. I've broken my leg/hip, ankle, knee/lower leg, and other foot. If I train 15 hours a week - walking is a problem. So you can see how for me the negatives began to outweigh the positives.

I'm enjoying spending a lot of time with my wife and son and that is really rewarding to me now.

I still love cycling and plan to start riding again in the fall, and perhaps return to racing next year. Time will tell.
